Former-Eagles guitarist Don Felder has just released the lyric video for his new collaboration with Sammy Hagar, Bob Weir, and Joe Satriani. The new track, called “Rock You,” will be featured on Felder’s upcoming album, American Rock N’ Roll, which will be released on April 5th and includes appearances by such heavyweights as Slash, Mick Fleetwood, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Felder kicks off his current string of date on Saturday night (March 16) at Modesto, California’s Gallo Center for the Arts.

Felder shed light on the “Rock You” session at Sammy Hagar’s Northern California recording studio, explaining to Rolling Stone, “Just as we were finishing, Joe Satriani came walking in. I said ‘Joe, grab a guitar and let’s figure out some guitar parts together.’ Joe and I plugged and sat in the control room and had a blast writing and arranging the guitar parts together. Just as we were finishing the guitars, Bob Weir came strolling down the hall and I asked him to sing on the chorus with us. It just all fell together and was so much fun to work with Sammy, Joe and Bob on this track. It totally rocks!”

Don Felder told us that throughout out his long and storied life and career, music has remained the only constant: “When I started playing music when I was 10, then force that had driven me through the paths of my life were, indeed, the love of playing music. Whether I was starving on the streets of New York, or working in a studio six days a week for 50 bucks a week learning how to make records, or being in the Eagles and putting up with both the complex relationships and struggles of that organization — all got to the point where I realized that the one thing that I had to do was to give my life to music.”

Fast Facts:

In 2012 Don Felder released his latest solo album, Road To Forever, which features such high profile guest appearances by Graham Nash and David Crosby, Steve Lukather of Toto, and Tommy Shaw of Styx.

Felder was touring as Crosby & Nash’s lead guitarist when he played on the Eagles’ 1974 On The Border album, and went on to join the band in time for 1975’s groundbreaking One Of These Nights collection.

Felder co-wrote such Eagles classics as “Hotel California,” “Victim Of Love,” and “Those Shoes.”

He was fired from the Eagles in 2001 following monetary disputes with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Eagles manager Irving Azoff. The case was settled out of court the following year.

In 2006, Felder published his memoir, Heaven And Hell: My Life In The Eagles.
