New fan-compiled Soundgarden book available now
A new book about Soundgarden titled Photofantasm Soundgarden: Nudedragons To King Animal is out now in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. The book highlights the Seattle band's reunion via hundreds of pages of photographs, graphic art, anecdotes, interviews, and reviews, all contributed by fans, artists, musicians, authors, photographers, and other notable personalities.
The book chronicles Soundgarden concerts across the globe from 2010, when the band announced its reunion, to 2013, as it toured behind its 2012 album King Animal.
Singer Chris Cornell told us not long ago that he always felt sure there was still an audience out there for the band: "I mean, even before we announced it, I got this feeling that there was gonna be an audience for it. I guess for me, there's always a little bit of doubt about everything, but I felt confident that we had a place in the world as a band and, you know, it's turned out to be true."
The book features more than 300 contributors from more than 30 countries on six continents.
The book is dedicated to a Soundgarden fan who lost a battle with cancer. All net proceeds from its sale will go to Canary Foundation, which is solely dedicated to the funding of early cancer-detection solutions.
The hefty 592-page book includes more than 1,000 photographs, plus concert posters, original artwork, hundreds of stories, interviews, reviews, and more.
Soundgarden released an extensive B-sides and rarities collection last year and toured with Nine Inch Nails. The band intends to return to the studio later this year, while singer Chris Cornell just completed a new solo album.
