Neal Schon’s Journey retrospective band, Journey Through Time, has just added two new dates to its itinerary — as well as uploading a pair of concert performance clips spotlighting the band live in action. Schon will perform with Journey co-founder Gregg Rolie and former Journey drummer Deen Castronovo — who handles lead vocals with Rolie, Marco Mendoza — best known for his work with Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake — on bass and vocals, along with multi-instrumentalist Marti Frederiksen and Chris Collins on guitar and keyboards. Schon has even reached out with an open invitation for Steve Perry to come sit in with the band during their upcoming California gigs.

Schon has just added a March 1st date at Phoenix’s The Van Buren PHX with the band hitting L.A. the next night (March 2nd) at The Orpheum Theatre. The new videos now online feature the band tackling Journey’s “Walks Like A Lady” from 1980’s Departure and “I’m Gonna Leave You” from 1976’s Look Into The Future.

When pressed about the kimono outfits and afro hair he sported back in his Santana and early-Journey days, Neal Schon took it all in stride but promised that his old look wasn’t going to make a comeback anytime soon: “That was so funny, man. After Behind The Music came out, and they had all that old footage with the big ‘fro, y’know? My telephone was ringing off the hook — people calling up and say, ‘Dude, what happened to the ‘fro, man? You gotta grow that thing back!’ I said, ‘I don’t think so.’ I think I’ll just get a wig, man (laughs)”

Neal Schon told us that over four decades after Journey’s first gig — he honestly can’t recall a bad show, or a lousy audience: “The audience that we’ve, y’know, attained and kept throughout these years, I mean, it’s just been unbelievable. And all the shows that we played to those audiences — they were all great. I don’t remember playing a, a show that was bad, ever, or that people didn’t like or, y’know, something bad happened.”
