John Fogerty and ZZ Top are teaming up for a joint spring run, dubbed the “Blues & Bayous Tour.” The initial dates have just been announced with opening night set for May 25th in Atlantic City, New Jersey at Borgata Spa & Resort Event Center, with the shows stretching through June 29th at Welch, Minnesota’s Treasure Island Resort & Casino. More concerts will be announced soon, and for the tour’s June 26th show in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; Fogerty and ZZ Top will be joined by their mutual old friend Willie Nelson for a special one-off triple bill.

John Fogerty said of the upcoming “Blues and Bayous Tour”: “ZZ Top is one of my favorite bands, and Billy F. Gibbons is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. Riffs, blues and bayous. . . bucket list!” Billy F. Gibbons added: “John Fogerty along with ZZ Top have been followers of blues and rock since the beginning and we’re looking forward to rippin’ it up together this spring. We’ve got a great show lined up for ya’!”

John Fogerty told us that he prides himself in the fact that although nearly 50 years into being a constant voice on rock radio — his creative side hasn’t dwindled with age; “I mean, there were many times in my recording and touring career where I have shown lots of different diversions in my, y’know, musical career — unashamedly. I mean, it’s not like I have to defend it or make it work, or whatever. I’m just kind of trying things. And I like it, ‘hope you like, and if you don’t — well, whatever. That’s an opinion.”

When we last caught up with ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, we asked him if back in 1969, he or either of his bandmates — Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard — could ever have conceived that they’d still be recording and on the road all these years later:  “I don’t think anybody knew. We hoped to do some records and do some touring. We were asked one time, I think we were together 10 years or, something like that, y’know, how that felt. I remember thinking, ‘Gee, has it been 10 years? That’s a long time!’”
