Styx was formed in Chicago and became famous for its albums from the mid-1970s and early 1980s. Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement in the early ‘70s, Styx would eventually transform into the virtual arena rock prototype by the late ’70s and early ’80s, due to a fondness for big rockers and soaring power ballads. They are best known for melding the style of pop rock with the power of hard-rock guitar, strong ballads and elements of international musical theater. Styx is best known for the hit songs “Lady” (1973), “Come Sail Away” (1977), “Babe” (1979), “The Best of Times” (1981), “Too Much Time on My Hands” (1981) and “Mr. Roboto” (1983). Other hits include “Show Me the Way” (1990), “Don’t Let It End” (1983), and “Renegade” (1979). The band has four consecutive albums certified multi-platinum by the RIAA as well as sixteen top 40 singles in the US. Styx has played more live dates since 1999 than all of its previous years on the road combined. Two Super Bowl appearances, Pollstar Box Office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, and Bad Company, and no end in sight, Styx continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.
