I am nominating my dad. I learned at a young age not to say he “was” a Marine, but rather he IS a U.S. Marine. He served as a Corporal in C Company, 1st Tank Battalion. He is a Desert Storm Combat Veteran
Not only is my dad the biggest patriot I’ve ever met (proof: rather than giving a speech at my wedding, he began the Pledge of Allegiance and the entire group of guests joined in), but he lives to serve. He is Sheriff in Montgomery County, IL where he works tirelessly to keep our community happy, healthy, and safe. Since I was a kid, I have been waking up to him turning on “church” on Sunday mornings (aka – KSHE 95), listening to Alice’s Restaurant on Thanksgiving, and hearing KSHE in his squad car every day in between. I’m so grateful to be his kid. He is not only my hero, but should be a KSHE 95 Real Rock Hero too
When Dad is not taking care of business as the Sheriff, he spends the majority of his time tending to God’s Green Acres (aka our house on the hill where he has to mow acres) or traveling to see me, his daughter, living in Florida. He also enjoys beating up his truck rock climbing, cycling, and the occasional spelunking adventure
He is the best dad and husband my mother and I could ask for
KSHE is a constant in our household and that consistency is what I personally love. As for my Dad, he has always called it “church” on Sundays and involved it in so many family traditions (Thanksgiving especially). Dad is a firm believer that KSHE consistently serves up the best tunes
Aside from being Sheriff, he is a badass all around. When he isn’t rock climbing his truck, he is cycling, working on the family land, or fixing something mom and I didn’t even know was broken
