About John:
John has been a lifelong fan of KSHE and started listening in 1976 when he was in the 5th Grade. Some of his grade school friends had older brothers who introduced him to KSHE!
John likes the Morning Rock Show with U-man, Lern & Carl. He says the show is like hanging out with his dad, his daughter, and his brother. Medical update is fantastic and a big hit with his female co-workers!
John’s kids thinks he is a genius because he knows the names of most of the songs and artists that are played on KSHE, as well as the year the song was released. He tells them that he remembers what grade he was in when he first heard the song on KSHE!
John says KSHE plays great rock music 24/7. Everything from classic rock to great new rock like Breaking Benjamin, Soundgarden, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. There is always a good song playing … and not the same ones over and over!
John saw El Monstero last summer for the first time with his brother and his 21 year old son and says it was unbelievable!
John’s son Nick was part of the Adult Rock Program at School of Rock in Manchester. Being only 21 he was one of the youngest of the bunch. Two of the adult instructors are John Pazonni and Jimmy Griffin of El Monstero & Celebration Day. He says, as great as they are as musicians, they are even better instructors and they do a great job working with the adult groups to put on a show every 3 or 4 months!
John is a huge Styx and Journey fan and just saw Styx for the first time last summer with his brother and his 21 year old son, Nick. He saw Journey for the 3rd time with his 17 year old son, Joey, last summer too!
John’s first albums he bought in 1976 with his grass cutting money was Boston, Kansas’ Leftoverture and Rush’s Fly by Night!
John graduated from Our Lady Queen of Peace Grade School (OLQP – Raiders) in House Springs, MO in 1980!
John is Vianney Alumni from 1984 and Mark Klose always did a Career Day and would pack the gym for his presentation. He knew we did not all want to be DJ’s … we just wanted to see the guy from KSHE!
John and his fraternity brothers spent an early morning on the parking lot of KSHE at the window in Crestwood with the TKE’s (Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity) from SLU in 1985. They were drinking Schaefer Beer and eating donuts. The DJ brought one of our fraternity brothers on the air and asked what they were doing out here. When he told them they were just hanging out, the DJ said that it was not the breakfast of champions … it was the breakfast of drunks!
KSHE songs that get John through the day:
Working Man – Rush, Fly by Night – Rush, Led Zepplin – Immigrant Song, More Than a Feeling – Boston, Wheel in the Sky – Journey, Aint Talkin’ Bout Love – Van Halen, Iron Man – Black Sabbath, Stranglehold – Ted Nugent, & anything by Pink Floyd or Soundgraden, RIP Chris Cornell
Congratulations to John Costrino from Manchester, MO, our “Listener of the Day”!
