Name: Danny Pickett
From: Lake St. Louis, MO
About Danny:
Danny is battling stage 4 cancer and was nominated as Listener of the Day by his friends and family who love him so much and are incredibly inspired by the beautiful and selfless life he continues to live.
Danny has been a hardcore KSHE fan since he was a little boy, in the early 70s. In high school, Danny had a 1968 Dodge Coronet station wagon – the “Pickett-mobile” – that was covered in graffiti and KSHE stickers. He and his friends would load into that station wagon and head to concerts at the Checkerdome!
Danny’s friend, Tim Barth, says this about him: “Danny is a free-spirted individual with a heart bigger than St. Louis. In 1984 he was nominated to be a carrier of the Olympic Torch when it came through St. Louis. He is an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scout organization. He was baptized several years ago in Israel in the Jordan River. Two weeks ago his sister, family, and friends threw a Celebration of Life party in Lake St. Louis on his behalf, and I am going to estimate 300 plus people attended this outstanding event, including high school teachers. I could go on and on, but I hope you can trust me when I say there is no one like him on the walks of this earth.”
KSHE songs that get Danny through the day:
Pink Floyd – Mother, Comfortably Numb; Led Zeppelin – Thank You; Montrose – Rock Candy; Sammy Hagar – Red, Plain Jane; ZZ Top – Legs; Triumph – Hold On, Fight The Good Fight; Styx – Come Sail Away; Queen – Who Wants To Live Forever, The Show Must Go On; Bohemian Rhapsody; Little River Bad – Cool Change; Rush – The Trees; Elton John – Daniel; Neil Young – Heart Of Gold; Bob Seger – Travelin’ Man; Boston – Don’t Look Back; The Cars – Good Times Roll; The Clash – Should I Stay Or Should I Go; Collective Soul – Heavy
We salute you today, Danny Pickett!
