With the introduction of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people needing help with basic needs, including food, has exploded and will, more than likely, continue to grow for the foreseeable future. St. Louis Area Foodbank, which covers 14 counties in Missouri and 12 in Illinois, has ramped up its ability to serve thousands more by bringing in even more partners and volunteers by creating more Mobile Markets throughout its service area to help people who need food. Our goal is to distribute 10 million meals to area children, families, seniors, and other impacted individuals in the bi-state region by the end of June.
The list below shows mobile markets available to anyone who needs a helping hand for the week of May 18, 2020. Unlike a typical food pantry, no ID is needed for the mobile market service. In an effort to maintain social distancing and no contact service to keep you, the volunteers, and workers safe we ask that people who arrive by vehicle open their trunk and then stay in their vehicle until the food is placed in the trunk/cab. If you do not have a vehicle, please check with the organization hosting the mobile market to see if they are accepting walk-ups.
Mobile Markets typically last two to three hours or until supplies run out.

Hi, My name is Danny and I am one of the co-founders of GoPrep, an online ordering platform built specifically for catering & meal prep operations. Our goal is to help your kitchen collect and fulfill orders online. Due to the unfortunate circumstances that are going on around the country, we’ve been contacted by and assisted many catering companies over the last few weeks as they look for new and creative ways to provide meals for their customers. The ease of use of our platform combined with our quick assistance enabled us to get them all setup and launched within a day of being contacted. We imagine your normal catering revenue is extremely stunted at the moment, so in order to help out the situation even further, we’ve just added massive discounts to our monthly plans and are also offering a pay as you go transaction based plan. It is worth taking a quick look at our website to see if this idea would work for you: https://bit.ly/GoPrep Would you be interested in hopping on a quick call or viewing a video demo on your own time?

Butch Wax & The Hollywoods sets goal of $10 thousand for local food pantry
Butch Wax & The Hollywoods has played several times over the years in support of Arnold Food Pantry fundraisers. Now, the band has stepped forward to raise $10,000, to assist the pantry in these unprecedented times. The pantry announced today that the band will donate their latest CD titled, “35 Years Together” in exchange for a donation of $50 or more to the pantry. In addition, the first ten $100 donors will be given back stage passes for a meet and greet with the group at a concert rescheduled in August, at the 1,500 seat Rickman Auditorium in Arnold.
Gene Ackmann, leader of Butch Wax & The Hollywoods, offered, “The band has been together for over 35 years and has made many friends in the St. Louis area. This way we can help give back to a community that has been so good to us over the years by donating 200 CDs.” The band has been a mainstay over the years playing all over the St. Louis area. The group has performed at Cardinal home openers and also wrote the song, Gotta Go to Work, for the Ram’s Super Bowl drive in 2000.
The Arnold Food Pantry is recognized as the largest independent food distribution center in the St. Louis region, distributing millions in food yearly yet receiving no federal, state or United Way funding. The pantry’s expanded service area covers most of northern Jefferson County, including eligible veterans in need anywhere in the county. The Arnold Food Pantry is continuing to hand out food to over 1,100 persons monthly through a drive-thru concept as the clients remain in their vehicles.
The food pantry is going through rough times as are others in the St. Louis region. The pantry canceled the upcoming fundraising concert featuring fan favorite Butch Wax & The Hollywoods. The pantry also temporarily closed its Thrift Store adjacent to the pantry, which is responsible for over 40% of needed monthly revenue.
Donations can be mailed to the Arnold Food Pantry, 2024 Key West Drive, Arnold, Mo. 63010. Please indicate your donation is made in regard to the Butch Wax & The Hollywoods drive. A donation can also be made online at wefeedthehungry.org by going to the Donate page and using a credit card. If making a donation in that manner, please call (636) 287-3663 and ask for Ed. Tell him of your donation so that you can be sure to receive the CD. Missouri law gives anyone donating to any food pantry a 50% tax credit up to a $5,000 donation per taxpayer.
