Soundgarden has announced a North American headlining tour that will kick off on May 3rd in Atlanta, winding down on May 27th at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma. The three-and-a-half week run is being built around the quartet's appearances at festivals like Rock On The Range and Northern Invasion. Support on selected dates will come from The Pretty Reckless and The Dillinger Escape Plan. This will be Soundgarden's first tour since a summer 2014 co-headlining run with Nine Inch Nails.

Soundgarden reunited in 2010 after a 13-year hiatus and has been staying active ever since. Drummer Matt Cameron told us not long ago that it didn't take the band long to get its chemistry back once they reunited: "I think we felt a little weird the first rehearsal before we played our first show, which was like April 2010. You know, some of those rehearsals were kind of head-scratchers, like, 'Hmm, how's this song go, how's that song go?' you know. But once we played through, you know, one or two entire songs, then the chemistry came back as far as the way that we just naturally play together. And that's the thing I was most concerned with, is just, can we still do our thing together? Can we still make that sound together?"

A special ticket pre-sale for fans who are signed up to SoundgardenWorld.com and ChrisCornell.com will launch Tuesday, February 28th at 10:00 a.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, March 3rd, also at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Soundgarden has reportedly been working on material for its seventh studio album, which will follow up 2012's King Animal.

The band has set March 10th as the release date for a remixed deluxe version of the band's 1988 full-length debut album, Ultramega OK. This expanded version of the record is described as a "correction" of the original mix, which the band was never satisfied with, and features previously unreleased demos in addition to the album.
