Styx co-founder and primary songwriter Dennis DeYoung has announced his first solo dates of 2018.

DeYoung, who plays on Saturday night (November 18th) in Hinckley, Minnesota, kicks off next year's run on January 12th in Fort Pierce, Florida at Sunrise Theatre For Performing Arts, with dates stretching through March 24th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at Sands Bethlehem Event Center

Dennis DeYoung wrote and sang lead on such band classics as "Come Sail Away," "The Best Of Times," "Rockin' The Paradise," "Babe," "Lady," "The Grand Illusion," and "Mr. Roboto," among others, before leaving the band in 1999. His solo shows feature a Styx-heavy setlist -- including his sidemen performing classic tunes written by former bandmate, guitarist Tommy Shaw.

Dennis DeYoung told us that there's only so much envelope pushing you can do in a live setting without alienating the people paying to see you play: "I fool with the setlist. Y'know, I drop in this, that, and the other thing from time to time, I play a couple of songs from my solo career. But when it comes down to it at this point in my life, at any rate, the vast majority of the audience has a particular set of songs in mind that they really want to hear. Y'know, I added 'Born For Adventure' from the (1975 Styx) Equinox album -- and I've been playing that, and people really dig it -- but, y'know what? They don't recognize it. (Laughs) Y'know what I'm sayin'? A percentage does. But the vast majority of that audience, they really know the big ones, and that's just the way it is.”
