Ringo Starr to meet with fans from 1964 photo in Las Vegas

10/29/2013

The five teenagers Ringo Starr photographed in New York back in 1964 have been identified and will soon be heading to meet Ringo in Las Vegas. Thanks to a search held by USA Today, the Beatles fans featured in the shot from Ringo's upcoming photo book, Photograph, set for publication on November 22nd, have been located. Nearly 49 years after the picture was snapped, the crew appeared on NBC's Today show and recreated the photo.

Ringo issued a statement on the "Kids In The Car" photo being discovered, saying: "How great that they found these people! And how cool to now know a little of their story and what that moment was like from their perspective. Right now I'm off in Latin America on tour and I won't be back until November when we play two shows at the Palms in Las Vegas. I look forward to meeting them when I get back. See you in Las Vegas! Peace & love, Ringo"

Ringo Starr told us that he's more than happy to talk about the Beatles because he's still proud of the work they left behind: "Because it's part of the life, it's part of the heritage. I'm not going to hide from it, it's just that's what it was and we were the best band in the land. And what is great for me with the music we made was that it's still relevant. The kids are still buying the music. You can download us now, we're trying to modernize. The music is what's important -- not the haircuts."

Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band perform tonight (October 29th) in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The band is set for two more U.S. shows this year, on November 22nd and 23rd at Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort.
