The Moody Blues have just announced 10 fall dates. The shows, which follow a 12-show European trek, kick off on September 27th in Cincinnati, Ohio and wrap on October 29th, in Paso Robles, California. On June 3rd, the Moody Blues will release a massive box set, called Timeless Flight. The collection features 11 remastered CD's, three DVD's, three audio DVD's featuring 5.1 Surround sound mixes of their key albums, along with a deluxe 120-page book chronicling the band's history. The box set contains 17 discs including 11 remastered CD's featuring key album tracks, previously unreleased mixes, out-takes and complete live concerts.

The Moodies' current gigs feature a cross-section of the band's greatest hits from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Leading the band from their classic lineup is guitarist Justin Hayward, bassist John Lodge, and drummer Graeme Edge.

Although the band's recording schedule has slowed down over the past few years, Graeme Edge says that the band still thrives on live performance: "I think we all love playing live. I know I do, and I'm sure Justin and John do. It's just that I love playing to a live audience, it's just the most fun you could have as well as (why) we all became musicians. 'Cause when we started playing back in the '60s, an English band, you didn't expect to get a hit record or anything like that. Y'know pre-Beatles, you just did it 'cause you couldn't think of anything else to do with your life."

Justin Hayward told us that unlike some bands who get bored playing their classics night after night for decades on end -- he feels having a beloved repertoire is a blessing: "These songs mean a lot to a lot of people, and I think as the years go by, it seems that they become even kind of dearer. And I think that's a wonderful thing for us to be able to share, anyway -- certainly is from my point of view. They're a pleasure to perform. I don't get tired of them, no."
