THE EAGLES ANNOUNCE 'HISTORY OF THE EAGLES' TOUR

3/22/2013

The Eagles have announced the first 11 shows of their History Of The Eagles tour. The concerts are a tie-in to the band's new DVD of the same name, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 30th. The tour will kick off on July 6th at Louisville, Kentucky's KFC Yum! Center with shows now on the books through July 25th at Bethel, New York's Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, with additional dates expected to be announced soon.

Although it hasn't officially been announced, the band -- which now features co-founders Don Henley and Glenn Frey, along with Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit -- will be welcoming back co-founding lead guitarist Bernie Leadon for at least portions of the upcoming tour. The shows will mark Leadon's first Eagles gigs since 1975. Earlier this year Don Henley was quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock as saying, "(This tour) could very well be our last . . . we're gonna include at least one former band member in this tour and kinda go back to the roots, and how we created some of these songs. We're gonna break it down to the fundamentals and then take it up to where it is now."

Bassist Timothy B. Schmit, who replaced co-founder Randy Meisner in 1978, told us that the emotions in playing in any major band can run the gamut from horrible to heavenly: "All bands have their, it's like a, y'know, kindergarten class in a way. And there's a lot of, y'know, ego stuff and there's a lot of moaning and groaning, there's a lot of ill ease, there's a lot of camaraderie -- there's a lot of everything."

The Eagles will perform on Saturday night (March 23rd) at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Joe Walsh will kick off his series of opening dates for Bob Seger on March 27th at Vancouver's Rogers Arena.

Don Henley will next perform on April 1st at Rama, Ontario's Casino Rama Entertainment Centre. On April 3rd, he'll perform in Huntington, New York at The Paramount.
