PEARL JAM CONFIRMS SUMMER SHOWS IN CHICAGO AND CANADA

1/24/2013

Pearl Jam has confirmed that it will play two shows this summer, one on July 19th at Chicago's famous Wrigley Field and the other on July 16th at London, Ontario's Budweiser Gardens. According to Billboard, both gigs are being billed as "An Evening with Pearl Jam" and will not include an opening act. The band's official website also stated that more U.S. concert dates for the fall "will be announced in the coming months."

The Chicago show will be Pearl Jam's first performance at the storied home of the Chicago Cubs, which has also hosted concerts by Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the Dave Matthews Band in recent years.

Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, a Chicago native, has a long relationship with the Cubs and the venue. He appeared there as a surprise guest during a Springsteen show last September, has been invited to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" five times at home games, has been on the field with the team during practice and has even thrown out the first pitch.

Tickets for both the Chicago show and the Canadian date go on sale February 9th via Tickets.com and Budweisergardens.com respectively.

Pearl Jam hinted at the Chicago show on Tuesday (January 22nd) with a series of tweets that included photos of a stage set up on the Wrigley playing field and a Cubs jersey bearing the number 10 -- the name of Pearl Jam's 1991 debut.
