SAVING ABEL LOOKING TO FINISH NEW ALBUM IN JANUARY

11/4/2009

Saving Abel has been writing and recording its second album during stops on the band's ongoing tour schedule, slipping into recording studios on days off to lay down new songs. Drummer Blake Dixon told us that although the band has completed most of the record, they're going to put in some more work after this current round of dates: "Basically right now we've got the album pretty much finished, but we want to take a little bit more time and put a little bit more into it and just come out with the best product that we possibly can. And I think we're on the best track right now, considering the songs that we've come out with. I think that if we put an album out right now, people would love it. But we just want to make sure that we're completely ecstatic about it."

Dixon told Billboard.com this week that the group plans to get back into the studio in January to wrap up the new project.

Saving Abel's next effort will follow up its self-titled debut album, which came out in March 2008. The gold-certified disc features the hits "Addicted," "18 Days" and "Drowning (Face Down)."

The Mississippi-based act is currently on its Class of 2009 trek, which has been extended to late December. The tour, which also features Red, Pop Evil and Taddy Porter, pulls into Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday (November 4th).

The band is testing out three new songs on the road right now, including "Hell of a Ride," "Bloody Sunday" and "Tap Out."
