Spurred on by the success of their recent joint overseas dates, Bob Dylan and Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler have announced 31 North American dates for this fall. Dylan, who's set for his own North American summer leg in August and September, will join up with Knopfler on October 5th in Winnipeg for the tour opener and eventually wind things down in Brooklyn, New York. Knopfler will serve as the opener on all of the shows.

Dylan will release his latest album, Tempest, on September 11th. According to Rolling Stone, the album feature a song titled, "Roll On John" which pays tribute to John Lennon with quotes from several of Lennon's Beatles songs, including "Come together right now" from "Come Together" and "I heard (sic) the news today, oh boy" from "A Day In The Life." The album also includes a 14-minute song called "Titanic" about the sinking of the legendary ship.
