KSHE 95 - REAL ROCK RADIO
Weekend Update: January 9, 2017
Friday night hung out with U-Mom. She wanted to go to a local casino. I'm not a "casino gambler" unless you consider me stuffing myself with "all you can eat crab legs" and risking the after affects "casino gambling." Anyway, we take her there and the smoking on the gambling floor forced me out within about 10 minutes. My eyes and nose started getting irritated immediately. Casinos all over the country are successfully smoke free but not in the state of Missouri. Same state where taxes on a pack of cigarettes is the lowest in the country, where 15 year olds can still get married, where there's no data base for statewide pain killer sales contributing to Missouri leading the U.S. in opioid addictions, a state that has no law regarding use of cell phone while driving and people over 21 can still text and drive. Come on Jefferson City. Get your s#*& together. When will common sense win out? I'm not optimistic. Have a good week.
After work I met up with my friend, Andrew Davis and his friend Danny to be interviewed on their podcast "STL Community Cast" at Three Kings on Manchester. I'll post a link when it's finished, so be on the look out!
Once the interview was over, I came home to get Tim and head down to the Grove for a show at the Ready Room. The Death to 2016: Rats Rats Rats show consisted of local bands: Rover, Old Souls Revival, Brother Lee and the Leather Jackyls and Bruiser Queen. I was really happy to see ROVER because I went to high school with one of the guitarists. It was a great show and I was
impressed by the bands.
Slept in and woke up to a fire in the fireplace, Tim making breakfast and coffee. I'm very lucky to have a good man who lets me sleep and then makes me food to get energized for the day.
Once that energy kicked in, we headed up to Side Project Cellar's new Tasting Room in Maplewood -- across from Dobbs. That place was hopping! Delicious beer, good vibes and my friend Rob was celebrating his birthday there. I made him a very unique card and gave him money for beer. His girlfriend is my best friend -- Chelsea, and she is we so sweet, she got me a really witchy Christmas gift (totally surprising!) of new tarot cards, Practical Magic on DVD and some garden Bon Bons for planting this spring. I have a great group of friends.
We had to leave early to make it to Tenacious Eats on time. Mel Brooks' 'History of the World: Part 1' with a delicious course meal created by head chef, Liz Schuster. Absolutely delicious! I threw out the pescetarian lifestyle I lead for a night and ate many kinds of meat... even lamb! All of It was delicious! I won't be making meat a habit, though. I enjoy not eating meat more...I would highly suggest doing Tenacious Eats at some point in your future! And be on the lookout of chef Liz's new restaurant, "Firecracker" coming soon to The Grove in April.
Did normal homebody stuff and watched the Golden Globes hosted by my TV husband, Jimmy Fallon.
Friday: After a lovely dinner at LoRussos, my wife & I went to go see Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" at The Rep. It is also The Rep's 50th anniversary & they wanted to do a classic this year. We saw our old pal Laurie Mac who's practically running the place.
Saturday: took my daughter to her robotics team & then off to another award winning Entertainment Rundown on our sister station - where I gave away passes to see Ben Affleck's new film Live By Night. I have more for this Tuesday night - check out my twitter page for passes. Then off to the Blues game, where we beat the lame-ass Dallas Stars! On Saturdays the gates open 30 minutes earlier, so I have to play music for an extra half hour (at least). I did something related to the new KSHE museum. Check the photos if you can guess what I did.
Sunday: I spent all day at Busch Stadium for the One Nation Classic. It included a skate for the peoples, the Blues skills competition (Team Pietrangelo won even though Colton Parayko of Team Steen, won the hardest shot clocked at 104 mph), the "World's Greatest Pickup Game" featuring Blues & Cardinals alumni (Team Stillman best Team DeWitt 5-4) and the Firemen destroyed the Policemen 12-1 in the Guns & Hoses game. When I arrived that morning at 7:45a, it was SIX Degrees. When I left at 3:30p it was a humid 23 degrees.
