Behind the Cardinal's media day

Cardinal’s media day…it’s one of those days that every D.J., sales person and manager tries to never miss. Why? Free food!! Free tickets!
Is there more to it? Sure there is but if you got an invitation from our beloved St. Louis Cardinals to come by for lunch and have your pick of an upcoming game, then I’m sure you would go too.
This year we were at the Redbird Club where we got to sample new fare such as boneless chicken wings and higher end nachos. But of course, if you’re at Busch Stadium you better have some dogs and brats and of course they did. And I must say, after all these years the Cardinals might just have the best damn brownie I’ve ever tasted.
Dan Farrell from the Cardinals front office always speaks first. He delivers the message that the club is very appreciative of the relationships they have with the local media. (Incidentally, no TV peeps here) As well they should be…every station in town does something with the Cardinals.
Then, Cards President, Bill DeWitt III tells us what’s new at the stadium this year. And for the last 7 years, always has some kind of update on Ballpark Village. Except this year, it’s actually being built so I’m sure that makes him happy.
Then, John Mozielak, Cards GM gives us an update on the team. One thing I learned today is that he doesn’t expect closer Jason Motte’s injury to end pleasantly, meaning that he doesn’t think he’ll pitch this year.
But the food and camaraderie is why we all go. And of course, the Cards always give us a choice of tickets to two upcoming games. It never gets old, I’ll say that. The Cardinals know how to treat their media partners. I can think of a football team that should consider doing that…
