Help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma
Massive disasters, like Hurricane Harvey and Irma, create more needs than any one organization can meet on its own. The Red Cross is working very closely with the entire response community – government agencies, other non-profit groups, faith-based organizations, area businesses and others – to coordinate emergency relief efforts and get help to people as quickly as possible. The Red Cross is mobilizing its disaster partners to support feeding, child care, disaster assessment and other disaster services.
Here’s the best way to help people affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma:
Visit www.redcross.org or call 1- 800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster and this is the most effective way to impact the recovery for these communities.
Listeners are also encouraged to sign up as an ARC volunteer. The organization is desperately in need of people to assist in affected areas as well as here at home in St. Louis.
The Red Cross also needs blood donations in response to the disaster in Texas, Louisiana and Florida. The need for blood is constant and the Red Cross currently has an urgent need for blood donations across the country due to a summer decline in blood donors and blood drive sponsors. We are closely monitoring our blood supplies amid this ongoing disaster. All blood collection organizations in the U.S. are making efforts to meet patient blood needs and to ensure a sufficient blood supply in storm affected areas. Blood donations are always encouraged and the Red Cross stands ready to provide blood products as needed. Log on to www.redcross.org to find a drive or blood donation center nearest you.
